Acoustic Guitar, May-June 1994

Jump Street:  Leo Kottke, Peculiaroso

On the heels of the up-tempo, vocal-centered Great Big Boy, the steel-string bard's latest finds him in a reflective mood.  Soft, jazzy archtop meditations mingle with his more familiar folk and blues stylings, along with a handful of songs that further establish Kottke as one of the strangest and most compelling wordsmiths this side of Tom Waits.  Peculiaroso, maybe, but Kottke again proves himself one of the acoustic guitar's most evocative and enduring voices.
